Apparently, 1500 Policemen Weren’t Enough When Girls Were Mass Molested On NYE In Bengaluru

Bengaluru

While the entire world ringed in the new year with a lot of pomp and show, Bengaluru failed its residents in promising a safe and jovial start to 2017. In what can be called as a ‘night of shame’, the New Year celebrations, in the crowded area of Brigade and MG road, turned out ghastly by the time it ended.

According to a report in Bangalore Mirror, unfortunate incidents of mass molestation crippled Bengaluru’s spirit on the New Year’s eve where women were groped and molested by hooligans in the guise of revellers.

The incident took place after women became easy targets of drunk and unruly men with lewd comments and physical abuse, in public view. And it only goes to reflect the safety of women in our country.

Apparently, around 1,500 policemen were deployed in these areas taking precautions to ensure an ‘incident-free’ celebration. But in the hour, the arrangement proved futile.

The cops, however, in the crowd control exercise helped women reunite with family members and officially claimed that no case or complaints have been registered because nobody filed a report.

In testimonials of eye-witnesses, many young women, some of them weeping, were forced to literally take off their shoes and run for help.

Apparently, it is not only Delhi that is unsafe for women!
