Ayodhya Temple Installs Heaters So That God Doesn’t Catch A Cold And Twitter’s Hot With Rage

“Winter is coming” is not just a phrase for GoT fans anymore, because winter is literally coming onto us. And if we, on earth, can feel so cold, you can imagine how intensely cold Gods might be! At least these authorities of Ayodhya temple surely think so.

Heaven must be chilly right now because these God worshippers believe that our God’s idols can catch a cold too. Arrangements are to be made for these stone idol representations of our Gods to protect them against the cold.

The Janki Ghat Bada Sthan temple authorities in Ayodhya have installed heaters in the temple to keep the idols warm. Also, hot water is used for the ritualistic Jalabhishek of the idols.

As bizarre as it sounds, it is happening. Even though we are pretty surprised to react to it, Twitter is clearly not. Here’s what people have to say about this unusual arrangement.

1. This could be an act of selfish intent.

2. Yeah, I don’t think it’s going to help though.

3. My thoughts exactly.

4. We’ll read between the lines.

5. Yeah, we’ve come (not)really far.

6. This one’s angry with God’s lack of independence.

7. Protecting God against his own doing?

8. I think God will want to give the beggar more than what we give Him.

9. Spreading God’s word. The real one.

10. We’ll need someone to make sure they’re in good health, right?

11. Refer to #5 again.

12. Point well-made.

13. Another speculation of selfish intent.

14. Surely this is not the first winter the temple is experiencing.

15. Yep, that’s the reaction.

There are no arrangements made for the homeless poor people, who do not have a blanket to cover themselves in this chilly weather. But elaborate measures are being taken to protect the deities against this cold.

On the other hand, we claim that everything in this world is governed by God himself. Aren’t we being hypocrites then? When we should ideally be serving and helping the poor humans who cannot even afford proper clothing or shelter, we are investing resources in making stone idols more comfortable.

Incredible India, indeed.
