Ash Explains Why She CHOSE Her Career In B-wood Over Hollywood And It Makes Complete Sense

Often called ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’, Aishwarya Rai is a force like none other out there. She is supremely talented, insanely gorgeous and don’t even get me started on that poise and precision!

Discovered at Miss World, Aishwarya Rai was a star the day she decided that all she wants to do is SLAY. She was one of the first Indian actors to set foot in Hollywood. From her British film with the critically acclaimed director of ‘Bride And Prejudice’, Gurinder Chadha, to her commercial hit, ‘The Pink Panther’ – Ash was and still is, an indescribable rage.

She was invited to Letterman, Oprah and many celebrated talk shows of the west. But she decided to put all of that aside. Talking about why she chose Bollywood over Hollywood, Aishwarya said,

“I was very clear about that (her Hollywood career). Also because I enjoy Indian cinema I have had such wonderful directors to work with – I couldn’t get myself to do that.”

Speaking about how many actors from our industry are in love with the rhythm and pace that Hollywood films come with, she has said that she always identified herself with the excitement with which a Bollywood film is made.

“That’s because it is just a different rhythm – I know I can imagine some of our talent working there and experiencing it – it is exciting. It is wonderful to be part of cinema irrespective of which language or part of the world it is getting made in. It is just a different rhythm with which we worked in India and overseas…”

Further speaking about her ‘comeback’ in Bollywood with her poles apart roles in ‘Sarabjit’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, she said she was aware of how people commented on her choice. She further exclaimed,

I know there are some people who’d still be discussing – can she act or not. I’m like ‘Don’t question some of the best directors because I don’t think they’d risk their scripts or productions. Thank you for visual compliments but I have worked hard to be able to put forth the substance.

Aishwarya is a global phenomenon and no one can take that away. She was the first Indian actress to be invited as a jury member in Cannes 2003 and she was featured in American Vogue in the year 1991. She just became the first woman to hoist the National Flag at IIFM.

There’s nothing she can’t do.
