It was just about a month ago that a video of Arnab Goswami citing an anecdote from his reporting of the 2002 Gujarat riots went viral. It seems that the video is not going to make its impact be felt any bit lesser.
After the video was doing rounds on the inter-web, his contemporary and once his co-worker, Rajdeep Sardesai called him out and said he was blatantly lying and wasn’t even in Gujarat at that time.
Wow! My friend Arnab claims his car attacked next to CM Res in Guj riots! Truth:he wasn't covering Ahmedabad riots!! https://t.co/xOe7zY8rCp
— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) September 19, 2017
Sardesai also added how Arnab’s incident bore stark similarities with what he personally faced in Gujarat with a few more journalists. An incident which is mentioned in his book.
Yes, incident which Arnab speaks of did happen. Only he wasn't there, some of us who actually were on ground zero were! (Read my 2014 book)😀
— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) September 19, 2017
He also called Goswami a feku.
Fekugiri has its limits, but seeing this, I feel sorry for my profession. https://t.co/xOe7zY8rCp

According to an India Today report, here’s what Arnab narrates the incident as.
Journalist Sanjeev Singh added weight to Rajdeep’s allegations and confirmed that Arnab wasn’t present at ground zero.
Astonishing revelation considering Arnab wasn't in Gujarat when this incident took place with @sardesairajdeep. @bhavatoshsingh @nalinmehta https://t.co/HphTLSAs2j
— Sanjeev Singh (@sanjeevrsingh) September 19, 2017
Even Nalin Mehta confirmed the same.
Amazing: becos actually this incident happened with @sardesairajdeep in Guj riots. We know cos we were there @sanjeevrsingh https://t.co/HwHyl3Peqh
— Nalin Mehta (@nalinmehta) September 19, 2017
Rajdeep even tweeted the location of the incident.
Incident was in Gandhinagar Sarkhej highway, few kilometres away from Cm residence. https://t.co/38AmVPeP3j

And then what? Twitter had a lot to say about the episode and they came up with all sorts of reactions. Some even sent Arnab to places he was “allegedly” at.

Arnab Goswami has been a great inspiration. Especially, how he shamed Frodo into destroying the ring in fires of Mount Doom. #KyaAadmiHai

Though Arnab Goswami might’ve not issued any clarification upon his end, Twitter certainly knows how to have a good laugh about things.
