1. Raëlism

Raëlism, a religion founded in 1974, believes in the existence of aliens, and their interactions with humans. The founder, Claude Vorilho, claims that he was contacted by aliens who then took him to the planet Elohim, where he also met Jesus, Buddha, and some other religious prophets and messengers. Oh yes, and he has said that Aliens will visit Earth in 2025.

 

2. Aetherius Society

Yet another UFO religion founded in 1954, Aetherius Society aims to save humanity by building good relations with aliens by combining yoga and alien wisdom together. This faith believes that lord Krishna, Budda, and Jesus, among others, were aliens who actually thrived to save mankind. This actually sounds pretty cool, tbh.

 

3. Happy Science

Founded in Japan by Ryuho Okawa, Happy Science is a faith whose beliefs stand true to its name- to spread happiness around the world. Okawa believes that he is the reincarnation of Lord El Cantare, the supreme God and the savior, who exercises highest authority and total control over the world. Well, as long as he wants to spread happiness, we’re cool.

 

4. Pastafarianism- the church of the flying spaghetti monster

Though considered a ‘parody’ religion, Pastafarianism actually has a huge following. Started off on a light note, the central belief of this faith is that a monster, who was in the shape of spaghetti with meatballs for eyes, who was invisible and undetectable, created the earth in a drunken state. It also holds the belief that pirates were the original Pastafarians. Brb, converting to Pastafarianism right now.

 

5. Scientology

One of the most popular religions there is today (all thanks to Hollywood), Scientology is of the central belief that all people are immortal spiritual entities that no longer remember their true ‘nature.’ Followers seek to relive forgotten past events to free themselves from limitation through spiritual rehabilitation called auditing. Well, you can follow it if you want, as long as you have the money for it.

 

6. Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth

This is the trippiest religion you can join. This religion believes in psychic powers and magic. The best part is that their spellings are intentionally wrong, because they are against the belief that normal communication is the only key to know yourself. Needless to say, they also promote guiltless sexuality. Who’s complaining? Not us.

 

7. Invisible Pink Unicorn

A parody religion, the Invisible Pink Unicorn is basically around to turn theistic beliefs into satire. The IPU is used to argue that supernatural beliefs are arbitrary by, for example, replacing the word ‘God’ in any theistic statement with ‘Invisible Pink Unicorn’. Brb, going to go piss my grandma off.

 

8. Discordianism

This religion is all about chaos. With the central Deity of this religion being Eris, the Greek God of chaos, Discordianism is centered on the idea that both order and disorder are illusions imposed on the universe by the human  nervous system, and that neither of these illusions of apparent order and disorder is any more accurate or objectively true than the other. Pretty deep, I’d say.

 

9. Dudeism

Well, pop culture is called pop culture for a reason. After the success of the film, The Big Lebowski, Dudeism has gained immense popularity with 1,50,000 followers so far. The best part- you can ordain yourself as a Dudeist priest.

 

10. Jediism
