“I Did Not Plan My Birth In The Bhatt Family,” Alia Hits Back On Kangana’s Nepotism Comment

Many of us believe that coming from well-off families matter a lot. Whether it be business, politics or Bollywood. We tend to think that these kids, born with a golden spoon have their life on a platter. Yes, they have a certain edge over the common people. But what we forget is, everyone has to struggle. And those born with the golden spoon have all the more responsibility since all their flaws are magnified under the limelight. They would be constantly compared to their predecessors and that is no easy thing to bear!

In a recent show, Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar ‘the flag bearer of nepotism’ in the industry. Later Karan hit back at her on Twitter. But Kangana had made her point and it is still out there.

Kangana Ranaut is known to never mince her words and she has voiced her opinion very strongly.

At a recent event, Alia was asked to comment on how nepotism has shaped the industry and she did not shy away from calling spade, a spade.

“I think a star kid can get that first film due to nepotism. But to constantly get films just because you belong to a filmi family, is not possible. I don’t want to take any names, but there have been many examples of sons and daughters of lineage who have come and gone without achieving anything. What about that? Eventually, people come to see you as an actor and not because your family is famous, and you can’t fool them.

Alia also talked about how it is not because of her family that she is successful but she has worked hard for all her roles.

“I am aware people do struggle to make a mark in the industry, but it’s not right to blame nepotism. I didn’t plan my birth in the Bhatt family. I can’t change that and today, I am successful not just because my family is famous, but also because I have worked hard and you can’t take it away from me.”

Well put Alia. And totally rational. You have come a long way and we are proud of the talent that you possess.
