6-Year-Old’s Letter To President Obama About A Syrian Kid Shows His Unsoiled Compassion

There are a million things we can learn from children and one of them is empathy. While we go back to the circle of life, being outraged at first and “perfectly okay” by two-three days, it is not something that children do.

A 6-year-old who was deeply affected after the picture of a Syrian kid Omran Daqneesh went viral, decided to do something about it.

He wrote a letter to president Obama asking him to bring that little boy home, his home. Because he is just a boy and did not deserve to be a part of this.

He said, “We will give him a family and he will be our brother. My little sister Catherine will be collecting butterflies and fireflies for him.”

If a little boy can feel such compassion for someone his age, where are we?

President Obama who was absolutely moved by the letter read it in his speech and said,

“The humanity that a young child can display, who hasn’t learned to be cynical, or suspicious, or fearful of other people– we can all learn from Alex.”

It doesn’t matter where someone comes from, who they worship, what religion do they follow. They have a heart that longs for love and that is all that should matter.
