Indian politicians are known for their bizarre and ridiculous quotes. We have many politicians in our country making jaw-dropping statements regarding rape, mobile phones and what not! And Babulal Gaur, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh is no stranger to this. Earlier he had sparked a controversy when he described rape as – sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong. And this time, he strikes again!
Babulal Gaur stated that consuming alcohols is a status symbol and also, it is a fundamental right.
Surprised? Don’t be. He has bewildered many activists as well! He seemed to disagree on the fact that alcohol consumption is the reason behind the rise in crimes. He said – “Sharaab peene se apraadh nahi badhte, pee kar dagmagaane se apraadh badhte hain. Peene wala samajh kar piye, itna piye ki kissise baat karte waqt pata na chale. Sharab peena ek status hai, uska fundamental right.”
How ridiculous is that, you may wonder. But, Babulal Gaur is famous for making such statements and leaving others shell shocked.
Earlier when he remarked that he intends to teach the wife of a Russian leader on how to untie a dhoti, he had angered women activists. “I told her I can’t teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later, not now,” Gaur said.
And these kinds of “leaders” are here to help build the nation.
