The Granddaughter Of Airlift’s Real Hero Shared An Inspiring And Heartfelt Post On FB

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ has been released today and it is about India’s biggest and most successful rescue operation, which was carried out in Kuwait. 1,70,000 Indians were safely carried back home from war-torn Kuwait in 1990.

Raja Krishna Menon, who has directed the movie said that the details of men involved in the mission are very vague, but he did come across two men, Sunny Mathews and Vedi during his research. These two men were a part of an unofficial committee and carried out the rescue work. Akshay’s character of Ranjit Katyal is based on both these men.

Recently, the granddaughter of Sunny Mathews, Rhea Mathews, updated an emotional Facebook status remembering his grandfather. Here’s what she wrote.
