Here are some amazing stories of the most extraordinary dogs around the world who proved their mettle and showed the world that courage is not just a human virtue, it’s a virtue of the brave hearted of any species.

1. Sergeant Stubby – America

Stubby the Yale dog, was given the title of Sergeant in the American Army, that says a lot about his character. He was instrumental in all WW II as he promptly alerted soldiers about the enemy attacks on time on every occasion.
The most known instance is that Stubby sniffed out and chased a rogue in the no man’s hiding behind a bush and bit him throughout the way.

2. Togo and Balto- Alaska, America

These Siberian huskies accompanying their owner was extremely instrumental in getting medicines, Serum run for an outbreak of Diptheria in the remotest area of Alaska where there was no other way of reaching but by sledges. Balto is more famous because he was the one to reach the occasion but Togo travelled more than Balto and through a much harsher route. Now how many of us could’ve done that if we were in his place?!

3. Barry – Switzerland – Italy border

The Saint Bernard rescued around 50 people out of the snow, stuck in the cold sans any equipment or help. Now, how amazing is that!

4. Man Ray – America

This handsome one has been probably the only dog who has been the “Man of the Year.” He has been on most covers of magazines and is probably the most professionally photographed doggy in the entire world. Talk about modelling goals!

5. Saucisse – France.

This cutesy dachshund named after a sausage because of the body shape, earned himself a spot on the ballot of an important election in France and became the first dog to stand for elections as the mayor of Marseilles and also a square got named after him. How lucky was he!

This beauty was the primary subject of study of the world renowned psychologist, and animal assisted therapy expert Sigmund Freud. This is an insight into the greatness of the dog reflected in the works of the great man. Freud when interviewing his patients realized that they responded better whenever Jofi was around and guessed that the presence of the canine calmed them down a little. This became his subject of study and often Jofi would give reactions towhat the patients said like scratching her back if she didn’t like anything that was being said.

This little ball of awesomeness has rescued nearly 1,000 cats to date. She’s the perfect example of Animal love and an exception of the fabled animosity between cats and dogs.

The first canine to go to space. Either you’re lucky or you earn it. This one is probably both. Not just the first canine, she was the first animal to go to space and the first animal to orbit the earth in the famous Russian satellite, Sputnik.

This superhero was instrumental in detecting explosives during the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts single pawedly. He is the most celebrated doggy in the country and earned his place on the altar for all the Army dogs to be his successors.

The love between him and his owner is world renowned and you can go watch the tear-jerking movie so that you know what loyalty really means. How many of you can claim to possess this kind of virtue?

11. Sweet Pea – America

A Border Collie/Australian Shepherd crossed to run a full 100 meters in just 2 minutes and 55 seconds carrying a can on her muzzle! Now that is something!
She has also holds a record of balancing a 5 oz glass of water while walking  for the maximum steps taken in the forward directions.

12. Konjo – America

Broke the Guinness Book of World Records by running the fastest 5 metres on front paws by a dog in 2.39 seconds. This proves that records are not just for humans. Also, how many of us can run on our hands? Something to give a try, isn’t it? 😀
